Tianjin Gaoshaling Port Area hold the first comprehensive maritime emergency drill

Recently, the Gaoshaling Port Area hold the first comprehensive maritime emergency drill was held in the front waters of the Jin'an Heavy Industry Terminal. 10 ships from 8 units including the Tianjin Dakoukou Maritime Safety Administration participated in the exercise and more than 50 emergency personnel participated in this drill.
 
Gaoshaling Port Area is an important part of Tianjin Port. It will build a port-oriented industrial gathering area with “Port-industry integration” with a planned area of 51 square kilometers. At present, it has opened a 2,000-ton waterway and planed to build 50,000 tons and 100,000 tonnage waterways in the future. With the expansion of the waterways and terminals in the port area, new terminals have been put into use one after another, and the risk sources in the port area have increased. The search and rescue emergency work is facing enormous challenges. The exercise is to fully mobilize the emergency resources in the jurisdiction and accumulate valuable experience for creating a clean, safe and harmonious water navigation environment.
 
At 2p.m. on the same day, with the launch of three signal flares, the comprehensive maritime emergency drill was officially begun. The drill was simulated when a merchant ship a ship entered the port; it deviated from the channel and caused a fire. A crew member fell into the water during the firefighting process. 0.5 tons of oil spilled and the waters were facing serious oil pollution. The Lingang Maritime Search and Rescue Sub-center immediately launched an emergency response plan after received the report. A large-scale search and rescue operation was launched rapidly. The sea navigation order was maintained, the fire tugboat extinguished the fired on site, the rescue boat searched for rescuers, the wounded were transferred, and the hull was plugged and oil spill recovery by deploying oil absorbent pads and oil booms in an orderly manner. At 2:53, the ship fire was saved, and one drowning person was rescued. The oil spill was controlled and cleaned up, and major dangers were eliminated. The exercise process completely simulates the actual emergency situation and is close to actual combat.
 
In the interview with the reporter, the chief commander of the drill exercise said that the drill exercised the emergency team of the maritime search and rescue sub-center, and comprehensively tested the search and rescue capabilities of the sub-center to deal with maritime emergencies in different port areas and different scenarios, it was achieved the goal of training team, running-in mechanism and upgrading ability, which made the maritime search and rescue work in Gaoshaling Port Area take a new step.
