Dandong Maritime Bureau and Dandong Port Group carry out 2020 oil spill joint drill

On June 29, the joint 2020 water and land firefighting and oil spill joint drill was officially kicked off.

The drill was simulated a fire accident when the "Danganghuan 3" ship was moored at the berth of the pier, and a secondary oil spill accident was discovered after the fire was extinguished.
During the drill , the ship carried out self-rescue and requested rescue from the search and rescue center after the fire accident. Under the coordination of the search and rescue center, the Dandong Maritime Bureau took temporary traffic control measures on the second port of Dandong Port where the fired ship was located, they prohibited any ships(not includedemergency rescue ships) from entering and leaving, and dispatched"Hai Xun 03036" boat from Maritime Patrol Law Enforcement Brigade to rush to the scene to assist in traffic control. The Dandong Port Fire Brigade and Dandong Port Barge Company dispatched fire rescue vehicles and fire tugs respectively. With the assistance of various parties, the ship was successfully rescued and the fire was extinguished without casualties.

When cleaning the site, the staffs found that the "Danganghuan 3" ship was damaged by the fire and about 3 tons of fuel oil was discharged into the sea. The search and rescue center immediately dispatched the decontamination forces to carry out the oil booms containment, interception, recovery(by using oil absorbent pads) and removal of oil spills on the sea surface, and most of the oil spills on the sea surface were successfully removed, but a small part of the oil film could not be effectively recovered. And then they asked for oil spill dispersants for oil spill cleaning, after the agreeing of this request, the Fukken No. 2 oil spill dispersant dispersed the remaining oil droplets on the sea surface. At this point, the oil spill removal operation was completed and the drill was successfully completed.
