Nanchang waterway dredging work was officially started

23/Oct/2019
The reporter learned from the Nanchang Branch of the Provincial Port and Shipping Administration that, the water level in the downstream Poyang Lake area dropped rapidly due to the recent low rainfall in the upper reaches of the Minjiang River, resulting in a continuous decline in the water level in the Nanchang section of the Minjiang River and it will have a significant early entry into the dry season. In order to ensure the smooth flow of the navigation channel and the safety of the navigation of the ship, and to avoid the occurrence of ship stranding and blocking events, the Bureau initiated dredging of some waters of the Nanchang section of the Minjiang River.

The dredging work of this channel began from the waters of the Liushuidongtan and Tiehetan waters. It will deploy a large amount of silt curtains fro controlling the suspended sediments and used excavator. In order to ensure the smooth construction of the project and the safety of the passing ships, the Nanchang Branch of the Provincial Port and Shipping Administration will also cooperate with the maritime department to jointly enforce the law for preventing the ship from “super-watering” navigation. Water traffic accidents and dangerous situations such as ship stranding and traffic jams caused by "super-abuse" navigation and operation will be strictly dealt with according to law.
