National level water joint search and rescue drill was held in Chongqing

On November 15th, a national-level joint water search and rescue drill was jointly hosted by the Ministry of Transport and Chongqing City and it was held in the waters of Huangqi Wharf in Fuling District, Chongqing. There will be 32 ships of various types and more than 300 people participated in this drill.
 
The drill was simulated when a container ship (60 containers, 6 crew members) was descending to the waters of Huangqi Wharf in Fuling, it was collided with a rolling ship (40 vehicles, 104 passengers, 16 crew members), then it caused the injured of the ship passengers and some personnel fell into the water, the ship was out of control, the truck caught fire, the container ship was damaged and the container fell into the water, and two heavy boxes sank into the river. The Ministry of Transport and the Chongqing City quickly organized the water emergency rescue forces, timely rescued the drowning personnel, then they urgently transferred the seriously injured personnel to the hospital, properly evacuated and arranged the passengers in distress; timely extinguished the fire of rolling ship; then they controlled and removed the oil spill on the surface by deploying oil booms and oil absorbent pads, safeguarded the cleaning of waters; dispatched professional salvage forces to remotely deliver deep-dive equipment; swept and measured containers in the water, took measures to resume navigation and then navigated and towed the drowning containers to safe waters, and dragged the ships in distress to safe waters.
