Beihai 2020 dangerous goods ship fire fighting, oil spill and lifesaving emergency drill

Sponsored by the Beihai Maritime Search and Rescue Center and organized by the Beihai Maritime Safety Administration, the 2020 dangerous goods ship fire fighting, oil spill and life-saving emergency drill was held in the waters of Shenhua Wharf, Tieshan Port. More than 90 people participated in the exercise with one drone sortie.
On the day of the exercise, four subjects were set up, including emergency towing and departure of dangerous goods ships, fire emergency for dangerous goods ships, personnel search and rescue, and oil spill containment and removal.
At the beginning of the simulation, when a dangerous cargo ship was operating in the port ,it accidentally caught fire, and the blazing fire threatened the safety of the terminal tank farm at all times. After the emergency response was initiated, the Beihai VTS Center quickly coordinated and organized boats for emergency rescue. The two high-horsepower tugboats that arrived at the scene first used high-power water cannons to protect the fire scene; Jinhui Tug No. 6 ship carried out emergency towing to the accident vessel, and at the same time, the sea search and rescue volunteers rushed to the accident vessel to carry out the overboard crew search and rescue, and then handed over the rescuers to the accompanying medical staff for rescue. Then the two cleaning vessels set up oil booms and put in oil absorbent pads, spraying oil spill dispersants to contain and clean up the oil spill. With the efforts of all parties, the danger was finally successfully controlled and the exercise was achieved a success.
