Lancang river-Mekong river joint search and rescue tabletop drill was successfully held.

The simulation is within 31 kilometers of the China-Myanmar boundary river. A Laotian cruise ship carrying Chinese and Thai tourists collided with a Myanmar freighter and hit the rocks. The accident caused the cruise ship to be damaged and flooded, and there was a danger of capsizing at any time. 25 people fell into the water, and a fuel leak from a Myanmar-registered cargo ship caused pollution of a certain range of waters and urgent rescue was needed. After receiving the distress alert and verifying it, the China Maritime Search and Rescue Center immediately instructed the Yunnan Provincial Maritime Search and Rescue Center to carry out life rescue and oil spill emergency response in accordance with relevant emergency plans. Through the joint efforts of the four countries, 24 people in distress were successfully rescued and another one missing. At the same time, the spilled oil was effectively recovered by using oil booms and oil absorbent pads without causing serious damage to the ecological environment along the river.

The drill focused on such subjects as alert reception, danger verification, emergency response, information notification, force coordination, plan formulation, life rescue and oil spill emergency response, and fully implemented the "Lancang River-Mekong River Search and Rescue and Sunken Ship Management Measures" and "Lancang River" -The relevant requirements of the Emergency Plan for the Coordination and Handling of Emergencies in Mekong Shipping have improved the four-country water search and rescue cooperation mechanism, enhanced understanding and mutual trust, strengthened emergency cooperation and information sharing, and improved regional water search and rescue and emergency response capabilities.
