Bangladesh Mongla Port Dredging Phase II Project Signed with Chinese Enterprise

The Bangladesh Mongla Port Port Authority and China Civil Engineering Group Co., Ltd. ("China Civil Engineering") formally signed the Mongla Port Dredging Phase II project contract. This project is an extension of the first phase of the Mongla Port dredging project that China Civil Engineering completed earlier this month in advance of the contract period.
According to reports, this signing ceremony was conducted simultaneously by means of video connection and online and offline integration. The signing ceremony was presided over by Shah Jahan, Chairman of the Port Authority of Mongla, Khaled Mamud Chowdhury, Minister of Shipping Department of Bangladesh, and Mohamed Mezebha Uddin Chowdhury, Permanent Secretary of Shipping Department , Chen Sichang, general manager of China Civil Engineering, deputy secretary of the party committee, and deputy general manager Wang Xiangdong, witnessed the signing and gave speeches through video. In his speech, the Bangladeshi side highly affirmed the achievements of China Civil Engineering in the first phase of the dredging project of Mongla Port, and especially expressed gratitude and appreciation to China Civil Engineering for overcoming the impact of the epidemic and dispatching a modern advanced level of fleet to request the transfer of the first phase of the dredging project in advance. I hope that China Civil Engineering will complete the second phase of the dredging project on time and with high quality as always.
The total length of the dredging channel of the contracted project is 23.4 kilometers, and the total dredging volume is expected to reach 21.6 million cubic meters. After the completion of the project, the main channel of Mongla Port can meet the large commercial ships with a draft of 10.5 meters in and out of the port, which is of great significance to enhance the port's throughput capacity, promote economic recovery in the post-epidemic era and regional economic prosperity. For this project,it will use a large amount of silt curtains and dredger ships for waterway port dredging.
