Wuhu Digang Maritime Department actively carried out ship stranding and oil spill drill

Recently, the water level in the Wuhu area has continued to fall, and the dry water situation has become increasingly severed. In order to effectively respond to emergencies, ensure the safety of waters in the jurisdiction, continuously improve the emergency response and disposal capabilities of law enforcement personnel, and ensure that quickly and efficiently response for sudden and dangerous situations. On the afternoon of November 25, the Xingang Law Enforcement Brigade from Wuhu Port Digang Maritime Department carried out ship stranding and oil spill drill at the Wanjiatan anchorage.
 
At 15:00 on the 25th, the "Sea Patrol 12230" ship was received the report from "****" ship when it was crusing on the Heinan Waterway. When the ship was entered into the Wanjiatan Anchorage, it accidentally entered into the construction area and touched the underwater obstacle and stranded, through the self rescue, it has failed, so requested sea patrol boat for supporting. After received the report, “Sea Patrol 12230” ship quickly rushed to the scene, and at the same time they guided the stranded ship to carry out self-rescue, check the stranded position, whether it broke the water, etc., and issued navigation safety tips for the passing ships.
 
At 15:15, "Sea Patrol 12230" ship arrived at the scene. After inspection, it was found that the ship's stern was stranded, the engine room was damaged and in water and it was accompanied by a small amount of oil spillage. After consultation with the ship, the law enforcement officers immediately organized the crew to use the submersible pump for drainage, and then they contact the floating crane to retreat the stranded ship, and asked the crew to prepare cotton wool, wood chips, cement and other plugging materials for plugging. At the same time, "Sea Patrol 12230" ship put a large amount of oil absorbent pads in the downstream of the oil spilled waters.
 
At 16:00, after the loading opeartions, the stranded ship was smoothly detached, the damaged part was blocked, and the oil spill was absorbed by the oil-absorbent pads. The oil spill on the river surface was cleaned up and the danger was successfully lifted. The drill was ended.
 
After the finish of the drill, the captain of the Xingang Law Enforcement Brigade of the Wuhu Port Digang Maritime Department commented on the drill and proposed improvements. He also said that such a practical drill can promote rapid response and improve coordination.
