18/Jan/2019
Yuhuan Ro-Ro Ferry Co., Ltd. held a comprehensive maritime search and rescue drill at the anchorage of No. 3 Yueqing Bay. The drill was set up more scenarios such as ship fire, sea life rescue, and sea rescue. By simulating actual combat methods, they test the emergency dispose ability, adaptability, and coordination of emergency accidents.

The drill was simulated when a 31-person "Donghai No. 1" ro-ro passenger liner, which was sailing from Yuhuan to Yueqing, it was encountering heavy fog. The passenger ship collided with a cargo ship, and seven passengers on the ship fell into the water. At the same time, the hull overflowed with oil and they immediately requested assistance.

After received the report, the Local Maritime Search and Rescue Center launched an emergency plan to organize rescue ships to rush to the scene. Ten minutes later, the "Sea Patrol 0761" ship arrived at the scene of the accident and assumed the command and coordination task. Subsequently, a number of patrol boats were in place to evacuate and transfer passengers and crew members, and they also started to search and rescue the drowning personnel.

Less than half an hour, all the drowning passengers were rescued. However, at this time, the passenger ship was tilted, and the car on the cargo deck on the tail of the ship was caught in a fire. The fire tugboat that was on standby quickly drove to the vicinity of the passenger ship and used a water gun to extinguish the fire. At the same time, in order to prevent oil spills from polluting the sea after the collision, the professional decontamination ship began to deploy the oil booms and sprayed the oil dispersant to remove the oil on the sea surface.

At 12:00, the fire on board was successfully extinguished and the oil spill situation of the accident ship was effectively controlled. The drill was ended perfectly.
