Chancheng conducts water traffic emergency rescue drill

At 09:30 on December 20, with a signal flare near the National Grain Reserve Terminal of Dongping Waterway, the siren sounded loudly. 2018 Chancheng water traffic emergency rescue drill was kicked off.
This emergency drill was simulated when a tanker with 300 tons of fuel oil sailed from Pingzhou to Chancheng. When it passed through the waters of 300 meters upstream of Dongping Bridge, the cabin suddenly caught fire and the crew quickly carried out self-rescue. In the process of self-rescue, there were 2 crew members fallen into the water. At the same time, the fire in the cabin was gradually increased, which caused the ship lost control. And then the hull touched an unidentified object underwater, the oil tank on the starboard side of the ship was damaged and the leaked oil, and the ship was stranded on the left bank of the Dongping Bridge about 400 meters upstream, which was threatened nearby bridges and drinking water sources.
After the simulated accident, the on-site emergency personnel of the Foshan Chancheng Maritime Department dispatched the sea patrol boats to check the scene danger at the first time. The Chancheng District Water Traffic (Oil Spill) Emergency Command Sub-center immediately passed the Guangdong Smart Maritime Supervision Service Platform System and the dangerous scene investigation. Personnel linkages, checked the accident danger, and then started the "Emergency Plan for Water Traffic Emergency in Foshan Chancheng District". According to the accident level, they set up the on-site command, traffic control, fire fighting, life-saving assistance, oil spill disposal, accident investigation these 5 groups, they carried out emergency rescue work in an orderly manner. They used fire extinguisher for extinguishing and the deployed oil booms and oil absorbent pads for oil spill control and clean-up.
The relevant person in charge introduced that the drill was not only tested the effectiveness and practicability of the “Emergency Plan for Water Traffic Emergency in Foshan Chancheng District”, but also improved the proficiency of each unit in the plan and tested the command coordination and emergency response capability of Chancheng District of Foshan City. At the same time, it was improved the cooperative combat capability of the central member units, and at the same time strengthened the application of information technology, improved remote command and resource scheduling in water traffic emergencies.
