Xiamen Port launches port ship anti-pollution emergency drill

Recently, ship anti-pollution emergency drill was carried out, which was led by Xiamen Port Authority, Xiamen Maritime Bureau, Xiamen Environmental Protection Bureau, Xiamen Port Group were the jointly participated, and they invited Xiamen Port related dock enterprises to observe together.
This drill was simulated when the "Fangzhou 31" tanker was berthing at Hairun Terminal, the ship's duty personnel mishandled the oil pipe valve, which causing heavy oil to leak into the sea and spread to the adjacent international container terminal, then occurred the accident of oil pollution into the sea. During the exercise, both the Hairun Terminal and the International Container Terminal initiated their emergency plans respectively, and carried out emergency operations of the accident, and then accident report, wounded rescue, and heavy oil spill clearance at sea were conducted in an orderly manner. After received the report, from the Xiamen Port Authority and the Xiamen Maritime Bureau quickly launched their emergency response plans. The “Cleaning No. 1” ship and “Cleaning No. 2” ship immediately went to the scene of the accident site for perimeter warning, traffic control and deployment of oil booms, it was purposed to control the spread of oil and carried out oil spill clean up.
Through this drill, the company and related units have effectively tested the emergency and accident handling capabilities of ship anti-pollution accidents, as well as the operability of emergency plans and the reliability of emergency facilities. In the next step, the Xiamen Port Authority will urge the participating terminals to address the problems exposed by the exercise, further improve the emergency plan, and enhance the handling and coordination capabilities of the various emergency forces.
