Shandong strengthens oil spill risk prevention and control in coastal waters
11/Mar/2019
On February 8, the People's Government of Shandong Province issued the "Shandong Province fights the battle plan for comprehensive environmental management in the Bohai Sea area" and proposed to strengthen the prevention and control of oil spill risk in coastal waters. The plan requires the establishment of a special inspection system for key risk sources such as crude oil terminals and ships along the Bohai Sea before the end of 2019. It will also identify the responsible bodies of oil spill pollution control in coastal waters and coastal areas, improve the fingerprint identification capability of oil spills, improve emergency response and command mechanisms, and deploy emergency materials warehouses. It will also need to complete the risk assessment of offshore oil spills in the offshore waters of Bohai Sea to prevent oil spills and other pollution accidents. Before the end of 2020, we will establish a joint emergency response mechanism for marine pollution caused by oil spills in the Bohai Sea, build emergency materials statistics (such as oil absorbent pads, oil absorbent booms, oil booms, chemical absorbent pads, etc.), monitor and call comprehensive information platforms.
