Shenjiamen Maritime Department carried out ship collision and oil spill emergency drill

On June 14, Shenjiamen Maritime Department took the opportunity of “Safe Production Month” and united 11 units including the Liuheng Maritime Department and the District Ocean and Fishery Bureau to hold the 2019 ship collision and oil spill emergency drill in the Zhoushan west waters of the Zhujiajian International Cruise Terminal.
 
The drill was simulated 1:30 pm that day, the general cargo ship "Taixing No. 2" was out of control due to short-circuit fire in the cabin electrical system, then it was collided with the anchored oil tanker "Shangyou No. 1", the upper part of the cabin starboard "Shangyou No. 1" oil tanker fuel was damaged and part of the fuel oil entered into the sea. After received the call for help, the Zhoushan Maritime Bureau Command Center immediately informed the Shenjiamen Maritime Department to coordinate emergency forces near the scene of the accident to go for rescue.
 
The Shenjiamen Maritime Department immediately launched the maritime emergency plan. At 1:41 pm, “Sea Patrol 0731” ship first arrived at the incident waters and contacted the accident ship to grasp the self-rescue situation of the ship and coordinated the guidance of the ship's response. At 1:48 pm, “Wanbang Yongyue 1” tug boat, “Sea Patrol 0745” ship, “Sea Patrol 07733” ship and “China Fishery 33122” ship arrived at the scene to implement fire fighting and deploy oil booms to prevent oil from spreading. Five clean-up vessels also arrived at the scene to carry out cleaning work by using oil absorbent pads and oil skimmers. At 2:30 pm, the drill was perfectly ended.
 
Guo Jianhong, deputy director of the Shenjiamen Maritime Department, said that the drill was verified and improved the emergency plan for public emergencies in the water area of our district and improved the emergency response capacities of water accidents in the jurisdiction.
