Putian Maritime Department and Luoyu Port Company organized a marine oil spill emergency drill

In order to further improve the emergency response capacity of marine oil spill accidents in the jurisdiction, protect the marine ecological environment, and build a safe production line of defense, on the morning of October 27th, the Putian Meizhou Island Maritime Department and Luoyu Port Company of Fujian Province organized a ship oil spill emergency response drill.
According to reports, the drill was simulated when the Panamanian ship “Caofeidian Sea” was operating at the pier 9 of Luoyu Operation Area, the ship’s rear fuel tank was found to be contaminated,the ship’s right fuel transfer pipe urgently refueled from the rear fuel tank, The fuel transfer pipe joint burst and the starboard deck was damaged and the oil spilled into the sea. After receiving the danger alarm, the maritime department immediately initiated an emergency response, requiring the crew to immediately notify the refueling unit to stop refueling, and instruct the crew to use the ship's oil spill prevention materials for on-site emergency treatment . At the same time, a maritime patrol boat was assigned to the scene of the accident as a guard boat to patrol the oil spill area. They notified the terminal to start the emergency plan, and dispatched emergency ships and vehicles to the emergency terminal for reinforcements under the strict implementation of the epidemic prevention requirements. They contacted the cleanup company, coordinated the cleanup ship to rush to the site, deploy oil booms, use oil absorbent pads to absorb oil, spray oil spill dispersants, and remove oil on the sea. After more than an hour of joint disposal, the spilled oil was effectively removed and recovered, and the exercise was ended successfully.
