Putian Maritime Department organized LNG leakage and oil spill accidents emergency drills

On May 24, the Putian Xiuyu Port Maritime Department, together with China Shipping Fujian LNG Company, the Xiuyu Office of Putian Customs, and the second team of Putian Border Inspection carried out LNG leakage and oil spill accidents emergency drills.

This drill was simulated the sudden LNG leakage from the deck pipeline during the berthing of the LNG ship. After the accident, all parties started the emergency plan in time. The LNG ship urgently stopped the pre-cooling pump, shut off the upstream and downstream valves of the pipeline at the leak location and activated the ship's firefighting facilities. At the same time, the maritime department immediately notified the LNG loading and unloading operation terminal and the tugboat "Offshore Oil 502" to simultaneously turn on the liquid-controlled fire monitors to assist LNG ships in spraying protection on deck facilities and dispersing combustible gases, and LNG leakage was initially controlled. At this time, the fuel oil pipeline of the tugboat “Offshore Oil 502” suddenly leaked to the sea. The crew cut off the broken fuel pipeline urgently, and carried out emergency plugging operations after the leak was identified. The ship pollution removal emergency response service unit used anti-pollution equipment and facilities(such as oil booms and oil absorbent pads)for containment control, collection, cleaning, transfer, and residual oil disposal in time, the risk of oil spill pollution was removed, and the drill was achieved a complete success.

A total of 6 boats and more than 50 people were dispatched in this drill, and an area of about 300 square meters of oil pollution was cleaned up. Through this drill, the scientificity, practicability, cohesion and operability of the emergency plans of all relevant parties have been comprehensively tested, the emergency team has been trained, the linkage mechanism has been run-in, and the crisis management experience has been accumulated, In order to welcome the 100th anniversary of the founding of the CPC and the high-quality development and transcendence of the port area, a good safety environment has been created.
