Guangxi Beihai City held a ship rescue and oil spill emergency drill

On November 19th, Guangxi Beihai City held a maritime large-scale passenger ship rescue and oil spill emergency drill. On the day of the drill, the wind level of the sea was reached 6 grade and the gust was reached 8 grade and it reached the maximum wind level of the passenger ship. The drill was simulated “Beiyou 25” passgenger ship carrying 500 passengers collided with a steel fishing boat during the voyage on the "Beihai-Weizhou" route. The accident caused the fishing boat to sink, 12 fishermen fell into the water and the fuel was leaked. The "Beiyou 25" passenger ship was seriously damaged, the cabin was flooded, the main engine was out of control, the ship was seriously tilted, and some passengers were injured. 11 members of the Beihai Maritime Search and Rescue Center, 17 boats, 1 helicopter, and more than 160 people participated in this drill. The exercise set up six subjects including traffic control, air search and rescue equipment, rescue of people in distress, large-scale passenger transfer at sea, maritime medical assistance, and oil spill control by deploying oil booms and oil absorbent pads
