Wusheng County launched 2019 environmental emergency drill

On December 25, the Wusheng County People's Government carried out 2019 environmental emergency drill at the Longnv Lake Shuixiu Performing Arts Plaza. Wusheng County Public Security Bureau, Wusheng County Fire Rescue Brigade, Guangwu Sandstone Co., Ltd. and other 12 units participated in actual combat drill.
“The oil pollution leaked from the sand mining vessel at the Shuixiu Square along the Jialing River, forming an oil pollution belt of about 2,000 square meters, which seriously threatened the drinking water safety downstream, and the situation was very urgent.” This drill was simulated the oil pollution from the river surface along the Jialing River. It was threaten downstream water supply security. After receivd the report, the people’s government of Wusheng County immediately started the general environmental emergency(level IV) emergency response, quickly organized county-level rescue teams to rush to the scene, and immediately set up multi-level oil booms to prevent further oil pollution from spreading and monitoring.
The emergency drill for environmental emergencies further tested the ability to respond to environmental emergencies in Wusheng County, and improved the practical experience and level of environmental emergency teams. Then they set the scope and extent of pollution, investigated the cause of the accident, and organized an emergency expert liaison group to formulate a specific disposal plan based on on-site feedback. They instructed the emergency teams to implement oil removal operations according to the plan, adsorb and recover oil pollution (oil absorbent pads and oil skimmers) along the river, and restore normal water supply downstream. After the emergency disposal, the environmental emergency response was terminated, a press conference was held to publicize the disposal situation. The emergency drill further tested the environmental emergencies abilities of the Wusheng County, and improved the practical experience and level of environmental emergency teams.
