Dazhou launched water traffice emergency drill

06/Jun/2020
In order to improve the emergency disposal capabilities of the maritime team , on May 21st, the Dazhou Municipal Transportation Bureau and the Quxian People's Government jointly carried out a water traffic emergency drill.

The drill was assumed that a cargo ship was impacted by flood water at Liugangxi Wharf, and the ship was disconnected and out of control and drifted along the water. The ship was loaded with nearly 300 tons of sand and gravel, and there was a danger of hitting the bridge. After receiving the request for assistance, the maritime center immediately initiated a second-level emergency plan response to guide the cargo ship to rescue itself. At the same time, two patrol ships were ordered to immediately rush to the waters where the incident occurred to intercept and rescue. After the rescue, the out-of-control ship was successfully intercepted and the personnel on board were safe.

The drill was divided into five training subjects including ship formation, rescue of out-of-control ships, personnel rescue, water-based fire drill, and ship oil spill disposal by using oil booms and  oil absorbent pads. Through the drill, the city's navigation and maritime teams have further improved their ability to prevent and deal with major and serious accidents, as well as combat rescue operations.
