Xiamen Port will add a new maritime "highway"

Recently, a reef bomber and a mud barge sailed to the waters of the second phase of the Houshi Channel in the Zhangzhou Development Zone, marking the successful resumption of the second phase of the Xiamen Port Houshi Channel, which had been suspended for one year. It was also used silt curtains for waterway dredging.The project is expected to be completed in 2022.
 
The Houshi Channel is the public channel of Xiamen Port. The total investment in the second phase of the project is more than 160 million yuan. It is about 28.14 kilometers long. After completion, it can meet the demand of 150,000-ton bulk carriers for single-track navigation by tide. At that time, a sea "highway" will be added to Xiamen Port.
 
According to reports, the project started in May 2018, and construction was suspended in December 2019 beacause that the relocating and protecting the submarine communication optical cables and two submarine power supply cables in the channel. Due to the long downtime, a lot of sea surface exploration work will be carried out after resuming work. At present, the inspection of dredged objects has been completed.
