Zhanjiang held emergency drill to test maritime oil spill rescue capabilities

At 10 a.m. on June 25, with the command of the drill commander, the special emergency drill for crude oil leakage in the 2021 "Safety Production Month" of Zhanjiang Port was officially started at the port's petrochemical terminal. Zhanjiang Maritime Safety Administration, Zhanjiang Port Group, Zhanjiang Haifu Shipping Co., Ltd.,Zhanjiang Xintang Shipping Service Co., Ltd. And other units participated in the drill.
This drill was simulated when the “Seagull” ship was carrying out unloading operations at the petrochemical terminal 212#, the pipeline near the flange of the oil transfer arm and the ship’s interface accidentally had perforated oil leakage, the crude oil flowed from the deck to the sea, then caused pollution accidents. The ship and the wharf immediately followed their respective procedures for disposal. After receiving the report, the Zhanjiang Maritime Search and Rescue Sub-center immediately coordinated the tugboat to carry out fire protection monitoring, dispatched the marine cleanup emergency forces to clean up the pollution and the "Hai Xun 09056" ship to conduct marine monitoring and alert.
After the joint efforts, all the spilled oil was cleaned up. The entire drill process was tense and orderly, and the expected results of the drill were achieved. A total of 1 fire command vehicle, 2 fire trucks, 1 tugboat, 1 maritime patrol ship, 3 cleanup vessels, and 1 emergency repair vehicle were dispatched during the drill. At the same time, a large number of oil booms,oil absorbent pads,oil skimmers and other cleaning equipment were deployed.
According to the maritime department, the drill verified the scientificity and practicability of the Zhanjiang offshore oil spill emergency rescue plan, tested the emergency rescue capabilities of water accidents and the coordinated operations capabilities of relevant departments, and accumulated practical experience.
