Yangpu Maritime organized ship emergency drill

09/Jul/2020

On the morning of June 9, the Yangpu Maritime Bureau organized enterprises in the jurisdiction to carry out ship oil spill and firefighting emergency drill at the Baimajing anchorage to provide maritime safety guarantee for the construction of Hainan Free Trade Port. A total of 6 ships and more than 30 people participated in the exercise.

It is understood that the drill was simulated during the process of unloading the oil from the "Jinjia 33" tanker to the "Hongming 13" tanker, the oil delivery hose near the interface of the unloading valve burst to cause an oil leakage accident. In the process of removing oil pollution, the residual oil rags spontaneously ignited due to high temperature, and a fire broke out because the ship could not be controlled and finally abandoned. During the drill, the crew demonstrated the procedures for handling oil spill accidents (laying oil booms and oil absorbent pads), and at the same time, they conducted drills for ship fire fighting, rescue of persons in distress, and abandoned ship escape.
