Hechuan environmental incidents emergency joint drill

17/Dec/2020

The drill was simulated the explosion accident of a toluene storage tank in a chemical plant in Wusheng County, Guang'an City, Sichuan Province. The leaked toluene entered the river with fire fighting water, endangering the water quality of ancient buildings along the Jialing River in Hechuan District, Qiantang, Yunmen, and drinking water sources in the urban area. On the river surface, the emergency rescue team drove the vessel to the suspected polluted area, used oil absorbent booms on the river surface to intercept the toluene from spreading, and used oil absorbent pads to adsorb toluene on the river surface. The maritime ship of the District Transportation Bureau has launched traffic control in the polluted waters to ensure safe operations. The unmanned sampling machine released by the Municipal Ecological Environment Bureau conducts water quality sampling in areas that the sampling ship cannot reach. Each department successively reported the disposal results to the headquarters based on the completion of their emergency rescue. Based on the progress of the on-site disposal, the headquarters again organized a meeting and deployed follow-up related work. After the disposal, experts commented on the spot, and the district party committee propaganda department held a press conference on the spot in conjunction with relevant departments.
