Jieyang Maritime Department launched ship oil spill emergency drill

    Recently, Jieyang Maritime Bureau, Guangdong Yudian Jinghai Power Generation Co., Ltd., Yudian Shipping Company Jieyang Subsidiary and the two clean-up units in the area jointly carried out oil spill emergency response drill in the front waters of Huizhou Jinghai Power Plant.
 
    During the exercise, after received the accident report, Huilai Maritime Department immediately reported to the command center of the Jieyang Maritime Bureau. The command center immediately initiated an emergency plan for ship pollution accidents and designated on-site command. Under the unified deployment of on-site command, it was set up emergency response teams such as the alert group, investigation team, and cleaning team. The Law Enforcement Boat “Sea Patrol No.09691” was rushed to the scene of the accident at the first time, immediately implemented traffic alert on the upstream and downstream of the incident waters, and began sampling pollutants. At the same time, the clean-up ships belonging to the clean-up companies in the area went to the scene of the accident for carrying out the cleanup of water spilled oil on the water. The clean-up ships quickly laid out oil booms around the accident ship to effectively prevent further spillage of oil spills; and it was also used oil skimmers and oil absorbent mats in the polluted waters. The cleaning work is carried out in an orderly manner. After a series of intense decontamination operations, the ship’s oil spill was controlled and an “accident” that may cause water pollution was properly disposed. The drill was achieved the success.
 
    In recent years, with the large-scale coastal projects construction and commissioning of the in Huilai, the number of ships sailing on the north and south of the coastal area has been intensive, and the probability and risk of ship pollution accidents have increased. Once a ship was occurred oil spill, it may lead to serious consequences, so ship prevention and emergency work is extremely important. Through the oil spill emergency drill, the maritime department has enhanced the comprehensive response ability of the department and relevant units for the ships' oil spill incidents, such as quick response capacity, emergency handling, and coordinate operations, it will effectively accumulate actual combat experience in response to emergencies, and jointly safeguard Jieyang green maritime ecological environment.
