Taicang Maritime Bureau held 2018 water search and rescue drill

On the morning of the April 17, Along with the three signal bombs, the water search and rescue drill of the Changjiang Taicang section was officially begun.
 
At 10:30 in the morning, the drill was simulated a steamer ferry was collided with a freighter in the near waters of the Changjiang No. 13 buoy. It was caused the steam turbine cabin to break into the water. Four people fell into the water and the oil was leaked. Another freighter caught fire and five containers fell into the water. After received the alert, the Taicang Water Search and Rescue Center immediately initiated an emergency plan to guide the crew to carry out self-help. At the same time, they escorted the sea patrol boats, marine police boats, public security boats, unmanned squadron, professional clean-up ships and salvage engineering ship to the scene. About half an hour, all the persons in distress were out of danger, the fire of the freighter was extinguished, the ship in distress was controlled, all the containers were salvaged, and the water spill was basically cleared by using oil booms and oil absorbent mats.
 
This drill was included ship distress rescue, ship plugging, life-saving assistance, transfer of ferry passengers, ship fire control, ship out of control disposal, container salvage, anti-pollution disposal these eight tasks. There were 21 ships,6 professional vehicles, 3 unnamed aerial vehicles participated and more than 150 personnel join in this drill..
 
It is understood that this comprehensive search and rescue drill was aimed to implement the “Regulations for the Search and Rescue of Floating Water in Jiangsu Province”, test the practicability and operability of relevant emergency rescue plans for water search and rescue for, enhance the actual combat capability of emergency rescue teams, and improve the organization and coordination of search and rescue operations.
 
According to reports, in recent years, the three-dimensional cruising mode of “UAV + Sea Patrol” explored by the Taicang Maritime Bureau has played an important role due to its large cruise range and fast response. Last year, the Taicang Water Search and Rescue Center organized 112 cases of water search and rescue actions, which was rescued 185 ships and 908 people.
