Tianjin 2018 inland water search and rescue drill completed

18/May/2018
Recently, the Inland River Search and Rescue Center of the Local Maritime Bureau was jointly conducted an emergency search and rescue drill for ship misfires in conjunction with the main social search and rescue forces in the city's inland rivers.

The drill was simulated the fire on the deck of the Haihe cruise ship. After self-rescue, they could not control the fire, so they reported to the Inland River Search and Rescue Center and started the company's fire emergency plan.

After received the report, the Inland River Search and Rescue Center immediately responded to the “ship fire emergency disposal sub-prediction plan” procedures and reported to the leader. They quickly mobilized marine emergency search and rescue personnel and social search and rescue forces to rush to the scene of the accident for carrying out rescue. The three sea patrol boats that participated in the drill arrived at the scene of the accident within 20 minutes. They carried out temporary traffic control on the upstream and downstream waters of the accident, used fire water cannons to quickly extinguish the “fire”, and at the same time they prevented the accident ship from spilling oil and exploding by using oil absorbent mats and oil skimmer. The maritime and ship inspection personnel will carry out safety inspections on key parts such as the engine room and hull, and drag the “accident” ship away from the accident waters. After this drill, the participating units convened a summary meeting to propose suggestions and specific requirements for the problems existing in the drill.
