Xiaoqinghe River dredging project will be completed

04/Jun/2018
After many years of operations, the Xiaoqinghe River has a serious sedimentation, which not only directly affects the flood season but also affects the water quality of the river. Therefore, the city initiated the ecological dredging project of the Jinan City section of the Xiaoqinghe River in March, 2018. The reporter arrived at the dredging site this afternoon and saw that all the dredging equipment entered the full-load production stage and the maximum amount of dredging on the day exceeded 30,000 cubic meters. As of now, Xiaoqinghe River has accumulated 960,000 cubic meters of dredging and completed nearly half of the projected workload.

It is reported that this project is the first large-scale dredging after the comprehensive treatment of Xiaoqinghe River in 2012. The length of dredging is 30.472 kilometers, and the dredging project is expected to be 2,142,200 cubic meters. It is expected that all dredging work will be completed before the end of June this year. The reporter saw on the scene today that the dredging operations first used silt curtains and then used the environmental reamer at the front of the dredging vessel's bow to break up the silt, and then sent it through the pipeline to the mud pond, the cleaning pool, and the sedimentation tank for preliminary garbage filtration, garbage separation, and natural sedimentation. After sedimentation, the sludge, water and mud are separated, the sewage is discharged into the Xiaoqinghe River after being processed by the purification equipment and the sludge enters the next step---the processing station for further dehydration. The final dewatered sludge is pressed into a “mud block” with water content of only 40% and will reach environmental transportation conditions, and will be transported to a waste soil treatment plant.
