Jiangsu Water Search and Rescue Comprehensive Drill was Held

In the afternoon of June 6, 2018, a comprehensive search and rescue drill was held in Jiangsu Province. It was simulated when the two vessels let each other passed the waterway; it was caused dangers such as stranding, collisions, leakage of chemicals, fires, and personnel falling into water during the process. About 300 people, 30 boats, helicopters, and drones will participate in the drill. This is the most subjects, most difficult and largest drill in past years of Jiangsu Section.
 
During the drill, helicopters, unmanned aerial vehicles, life-saving robots, scavengers, monitoring vessels and other equipment and vessels cooperated, it was successfully completed the reporting and assessment of dangers, fire extinguishing, stranded rescue, rescue of personnel, and removal of contaminants by using oil booms and oil absorbent pads, and protection of water sources, shoreline repairs, environmental monitoring, press releases and other subjects.
 
At the scene of the drill, some insignificant small equipment played an extremely effective rescue role. According to the introduction of the maritime department, the life-saving robot can directly reach the rescue site via the shore-based remote control to rescue the falling water. The speed can reach 40 kilometers per hour, and it can continue to operate for 40 minutes and can be remotely controlled for 10 kilometers. Drones have also played an increasingly wider role. In addition to the aerial monitoring of the site, a large-scale drone provided by the Maritime Department also has a lifebuoy underneath. In the rescue, the lifebuoy can be accurately thrown to the location of the “water faller”.
 
Fei Gaoyun, deputy governor of Jiangsu Province, attended the event and affirmed the drill. He pointed out that this drill was tested the emergency commanding organization's proactive decision-making level and strained handling ability, and effectively tested the province's water emergency rescue, organization, command and coordination capabilities. It is hoped that at all levels, the water search and rescue institutions will adhere to the combination of prevention and anti-rescue measures, adherence to normal disaster reduction and disaster recovery, and create a safer water environment for Jiangsu's economic and social development.
