Yangshan Maritime held safety and pollution prevention emergency drill

On the advent of the 47th World Environment Day, Yangshan Maritime Bureau jointly cooperated with 5 units from the Yangshan Port to successfully held a comprehensive safety and anti-pollution disposal emergency drill in the front waterws of Yangshan Port Phase IV (Shangdong) container terminal
 
The Yangshan Phase IV (Shangdong) Container Terminal is currently the world's largest single-cell fully automated terminal and the world’s most comprehensively automated terminal. The terminal's safety and pollution prevention and control capabilities are of utmost importance. A total of seven ships were dispatched to the drill, including one drone and nearly 100 emergency personnel.
 
At 11 o'clock in the morning, the drill was simulated when the container ship was berthed; it happened the breakage of the connecting line, which causing the fuel to leak into the sea from the side and an oil spill accident. After received the report, the Yangshan Maritime Bureau immediately initiated the "Emergency Ship Precautions Plan", assigned two patrol boats to the site to maintain the traffic in the nearby waters, coordinated cleanup units to carry out clean-up operations in an orderly manner, and the cleaning units released "unmanned boats" to detect oil spills on the surface of the sea and assist in the layout of the oil booms, the emergency disposal ship carried out cleaning operations by arranging the oil booms, releasing the oil skimmers and spraying oil dispersants, according to the site’s oil pollution.
 
The drill was carried out in a scriptless manner. The response of all emergency personnel was rapid and the team was familiar with it. It demonstrated strong coordination and high emergency response. The Yangshan Port Maritime Bureau will further improve the prevention and control of ship pollution and unite related organizations to create a high-quality ecological environmental protection team, it will lay a solid foundation for combating tough fights against pollution and a protracted battle for ecological protection.
