Minjiang Waters was held ship anti-pollution joint drills

On the morning of June 14th, the Fuzhou Majiang Maritime Department organized a ship firefighting, life-saving, and anti-pollution joint drills with the theme of "life-oriented and safe development." The drill subjects were included emergency response for dangerous situations, ship fire disposal, search and rescue of drowning personnel, oil spill containment and recovery, etc. More than 50 personnel and 7 ships from Fuzhou Lianjiang Maritime Department, Donghai Rescue Bureau Fuzhou Rescue Base, Fujian Ji'an Fuel Terminal Co., Ltd., Fuzhou Port Fuel Supply Co. Ltd., Fujian Fugang Towage Co., Ltd., and Fuzhou Jialiya Ship Service Co., Ltd. participated in this drill.
 
At 11:00 in the morning, the drill was officially begun. The drill was simulated the accident ship “Fengfan 27” was emitted heavy smoke, then the crew raised the alarm and alerted the Fuzhou Maritime Search and Rescue Center. After received the accident alarm, the Fuzhou Maritime Search and Rescue Center immediately launched an emergency plan, issued navigational warnings to remind the passing ships, and dispatched two maritime patrol boats “sea patrol 08208” and “sea patrol 08205” to the incident waters for warning and assistance to inform Fuzhou. They also notified the professional rescue boat and the Fugang firefighting tugboat rushed to the scene to carry out emergency treatment. Under the command and guidance of the maritime personnel, the crew in distress and the fuel tankers started self-rescue immediately and used the ship's fire-fighting facilities and dock fire hoses to carry out the fire extinguishing. The fire-fighting tug immediately put in fire-fighting actions and quickly controlled the fire. During this period, a crew member accidentally fell into the water and was injured. He was quickly rescued by a professional rescue boat, “Huaying 393”. At 11:30 a.m., the fire was extinguished on site and the wounded were successfully transferred. The drill entered into the oil spill control and clearance stage. The cleanup ships and personnel quickly entered the scene of the accident and laid out oil booms around the waters of the ship to remove the oil from the deck and surface of the ship. At 12:10, the ship’s oil spill was cleared and the contents of the drills were successfully completed.
 
After the drill, the Fuzhou Majiang Maritime Department conducted a site summary assessment and put forward corresponding management requirements and safety recommendations for the weaknesses found in the drill process. The personnel of the participating units conducted field exchanges to further enhance the emergency handling capacity of ship dangerous accidents.
