The Yangpu Maritime Safety Administration organized two shipping companies in its jurisdiction to carry out ship oil spill emergency drill, it aims to test the pollution prevention emergency response level of the water operators in the development zone, and to improve the water environment protection abilities.
The drill was simulated a sudden burst of oil delivery hose near the port of the unloading throttle valve during the unloading process of a marine vessel, causing an oil spill. The sailor on duty immediately notified the engineer on duty to stop the operations of the oil pump, close the oil pipeline valves in time and report the situation to the Maritime Safety Administration. Under the guidance and help of the Maritime Safety Administration, the company launched an oil spill pollution emergency plan to clean up oil pollution on the sea in a timely manner in accordance with the emergency plan to prevent pollution of the marine environment. It was used oil booms and oil absorbent pads for controlling and cleaning the spilled oil. The entire drill was lasted an hour.
